قدّم وزير الداخلية أنس خطاب اليوم واجب العزاء لذوي الشهيد محمد مساط، الذي استُشهد أثناء تأديته مهامه في حماية المدنيين بمدينة حلب، بحضور محافظ حلب عزام الغريب، وقائد قوى الأمن الداخلي وعدد من مسؤولي الوزارة.

استُشهد مساط خلال أداء إحدى نقاط التفتيش التابعة لقوى الأمن الداخلي في منطقة باب الفرج واجبها في تأمين احتفالات ليلة رأس السنة، حيث اشتبه عنصر من النقطة بشخص تبين لاحقاً انتماؤه لتنظيم داعش الإرهابي، وأثناء محاولة التحقق من وضعه، أقدم الإرهابي على إطلاق النار ما أدى إلى استشهاد مساط، قبل أن يفجّر نفسه، ما تسبب بإصابة عنصرين آخرين أثناء محاولتهما التدخل لاعتقاله، وفق ما أوضحت وزارة الداخلية آنذاك.

وأكدت الوزارة أن الروح البطولية التي أظهرها عناصرها كانت عاملاً حاسماً في إحباط مخطط إرهابي خطير كان يستهدف حياة المدنيين الآمنين خلال احتفالات رأس السنة.

Interior Minister Anas Khattab today offered condolences to the family of the martyr Mohamed Massat, who was killed while performing his duties protecting civilians in Aleppo city, in the presence of Aleppo Governor Azzam Al-Gharib, the Commander of Internal Security Forces, and several ministry officials.

Massat was martyred during the duty of one of the Internal Security Forces checkpoints in Bab Al-Faraj area securing New Year's Eve celebrations. An element suspected a person who was later identified as belonging to the ISIS terrorist organization. While attempting to verify his status, the terrorist opened fire, resulting in Massat's martyrdom before detonating himself, injuring two other personnel as they tried to intervene and arrest him, according to the Interior Ministry at the time.

The ministry affirmed that the heroic spirit demonstrated by its personnel was a decisive factor in foiling a dangerous terrorist plot targeting the lives of peaceful civilians during the New Year's celebrations.

Le ministre de l'Intérieur, Anas Khattab, a présenté aujourd'hui ses condoléances à la famille du martyr Mohamed Massat, tué alors qu'il accomplissait ses fonctions de protection des civils dans la ville d'Alep, en présence du gouverneur d'Alep, Azzam Al-Gharib, du commandant des forces de sécurité intérieure et de plusieurs responsables du ministère.

Massat est tombé en martyr lors de l'exécution d'une mission par un poste de contrôle des forces de sécurité intérieure dans la région de Bab Al-Faraj, assurant la sécurité des célébrations du réveillon du Nouvel An. Un élément a suspecté une personne qui s'est avérée appartenir à l'organisation terroriste Daech. Lors de la tentative de vérification de son statut, le terroriste a ouvert le feu, causant la mort de Massat avant de se faire exploser, blessant deux autres agents qui intervenaient pour l'arrêter, selon le ministère de l'Intérieur à l'époque.
